Newest Find: A Fixer Upper Dream Come True!
After purchasing this dollhouse, I am now the owner of five total. My dad made me a tall, green Victorian mansion when I was around 10. It's currently stored at my parents' house in part because it is huge! It has seen hours of play and suffered some wear and tear (both doors fell off, not all of the trim is finished) but I love it! I can't wait to have it back again, fully furnished. I will post photos of all of the dollhouses later on-- I'm too excited about this current find at the moment!
What I love about it: it's open on both sides, which is rare. It's missing two of the four doors so I'm going to take out the hinges and leave it open on both sides. The shingles and wood paneling are nailed on by hand, the staircase has a unique detailing, and there is trim and wallpaper in every room. Now, of course, as you can see, there have been "renovations." But I hope to salvage what I can and repaper the walls. The outside will get a fresh coat of paint, I'll touch up the trim, and most likely stain the roof a darker brown to hide the red paint.
Here are some more photos:
I love this room-- I'm thinking library?
Look at the railing detail!
The room with the blue paper and fabric glued to the floor is the only one that doesn't have a dividing wall.
Suggest a new color, please!
The other side-- still trying to figure out where the kitchen will be.
I'm sure my progress will be slow initially. But I'll post updates! Feel free to leave comments about suggested colors or renovation updates! The vibe I'm leaning towards is English country house full of history, clutter (in a good way), and comfort. I've been watching a lot of British tv, can you tell?
