Happy New Year-- a Very Belated Update

Funny how it always feels like things are going to be new and better on January 1st because it's a new you and (in theory) a new YOU. I stopped doing New Year's resolutions several years ago because I felt like I set myself up for failure each time. Relatable feeling? I have started writing goals for myself instead. They fall into different categories such as personal, teaching, creative, etc. And this long forsaken blog falls under the creative goals of 2021. I know hardly anyone currently reads it and that's in part because I get nervous about promoting my own work to others and partly because I NEVER POST consistently.

I'm going to try and keep up with the topics I want to focus on this year: the books I am teaching in AP Lang (shout out if you are a teacher!), dollhouse updates, movie/book/tv show reviews and recommendations.

So here goes attempt number 2. A dollhouse update. If you remember/look through the archives, I bought a dollhouse last summer for $40 to give me something to work on while I taught online. I really naively assumed my school would go online for the fall semester. Instead, I taught in person almost all semester, with the exception of some time after Thanksgiving and Christmas to provide a quarantine bubble for people who traveled. So, best laid plans were definitely left by the wayside.

In the meantime, I have pulled together some furniture I like that doesn't belong to any of the other dollhouses I have (3 others... currently stored at my parents' house...). For Christmas, my husband bought me an oven for the kitchen and I finally chose wallpaper for what will be the living room. If you are interested, I have an Instagram account where I post updates as well.

I've already replaced the cupboard on the left with something larger.
I want to build a fireplace surround for the oven as well.

Different views of the living room. If you recall, someone had glued bit of fabric
to the floor. This room has the most damage. I need to strip the wallpaper, get new flooring, and finally order the wallpaper.

The dining room gets to keep its wallpaper! I want to repaint the beams on the ceiling,
get a rug, table and chairs, and some wall sconces.

I have a day of in early February and I hope to work on this more... we shall see!

Stay tuned and thanks for reading.
